Everything about this phone is awesome: the size, the functionality, the features. The camera is especially impressive, it has so many settings that I bet it compares to the sony erickson camera phones. I am very happy with everything this phone can do, and I would recommend it to others.
Plays a host of audio files for your music, beautiful screen on which colorful wallpapers contrast with the jet black body, and quad-band GSM that makes life very easy for travelers like me. Even now, the phone stands out enough; true, Samsung makes a hundred slider phones that from afar look exactly like this but up close all of my friends know better. Got this back in Oct 2006 when it was bleeding edge (3 MP camera in the slimmest slider in the world). Battery life was great - 5 hrs with intensive use. Simply because this phone is small and extremely light weight yet the rubberized body feels solid without any creaking or 'plasticness'. This feels expensive. My only cons for this are the camera having ridiculously slow speed so you better hold this thing still if you want good pics; the PC software is horrible at managing SMS messages, you cannot backup/copy-paste like other phones such as Nokia; and the phone doesn't accept 2GB microSD cards for 90% of firmwares. 9.0/10
What can I say, smooth lines, typical Samsung cutting edge technology. Wonderful features, if only it came with the Girl it would be the best thing since slice bread. I wake up in the middle of the night just to play with it. Life is short, have some fun before you get old.
The beautiful, large screen is the best part of this phone, but the rest works well too. I don't like the Razrs, and I needed a quad-band, so this looked to be the best option. When my beloved Motorola clamshell flip phone broke, I needed an acceptable replacement immediately. Navigation is fairly easy. I've had it about a month now, and have adjusted fairly well. The feel is similar to the clamshell - sturdy, and the sliding operation is like the flip feature I was accustomed to. Overall, it is really nice. The only complaint I have is that the texting options make the process of sending a text message much more complicated than with my old phone, but I am adjusting.
The 3 megapixel camera takes brilliant pictures when your hand is steady. It's a little light however, so it doesn't feel solid in your hand.Looks:Samsung has the market on the "black-look" for electronics. The phone has superb reception and is very reliable (I haven't experienced one drop call). Internet browsing is much quicker with EDGE. Performance and features:Navigation through the phone menus is very responsive. A nice eye catching blue light (like Motorola) or white w/ blue tint would have been nice.Overall the phone has tons of great features you'd want from a small phone. Feel:It fits real nice in your hand and slides open with ease. The built in MP3 player is great and plays loud through the stereo hands-free earbuds.
If Samsung were to came out with a silver edition, hands down this would be the best looking phone in its class. One huge annoyance that another reviewer mentioned was the fact that the phone doesn't save directly to your memory card. There's no lag when you scroll through your phone book. The phone is beautiful and slim but it doesn't have the shock factor as my other slim Silver Motorola SLVR (based on friend's reactions to phone). It has a built in flash which doubles as a flashlight. After taking a picture you have to manually transfer the file to the card. In the dark you don't notice black phones so I wish the keypad lights were brighter with a better color than white. Though its far from perfect, its still a great phone for the price.
